Open Brochure --- Product Datasheet
Cold storage rooms and large refrigerated warehouses operate at temperatures of –20°C to –30°C. The cold penetrates the entire structure, and even with high-quality thermal insulation, frost can reach the foundation and surrounding soil. This may cause frost heave, resulting in foundation damage. The same issue occurs in artificial ice arenas. The problem can be effectively solved by installing a heating cable system to protect the soil beneath refrigerated facilities.

Applications
  • Cold Storage Rooms
  • Refrigerated Warehouses
  • Artificial Ice Stadiums

System Control
CHTK cable heating systems are controlled using a specially designed dual-control configuration with two independent thermostats.

The primary control system maintains the ground temperature at +5°C and serves as the main operating system.

The secondary control system is set to +3°C and functions as a backup. It automatically switches on if the primary system fails.

Temperature sensors must always be installed inside a corrugated conduit to allow easy replacement if required.
Installation

For foundation and ground frost protection systems, the recommended heating capacity is 15–30 W/m². We recommend using SN-10 heating sections with a specific power output of 10 W/m.

The installation of heating cables for foundation and ground frost protection is largely similar to the installation of underfloor heating cables. To increase system reliability, redundancy is recommended by installing two heating cables and two independent thermostats.

The heating cables are installed beneath the thermal insulation layer to prevent the foundation or surrounding soil from freezing. They are laid in the lowest layer of concrete, forming the base of the floor. Waterproofing for refrigerated facility foundations should be installed in accordance with standard construction practices.

The thermal insulation layer should be at least 50 mm thick. Where thermal bridges are present (such as structural support elements), the heating output beneath these areas should be increased to compensate for additional heat loss.
